Emma, Monte and I had fun this summer by going to Canada and the coast along Oregon and Washington. The picture above is of a horse drawn wagon that you can ride in Stanley Park in Vancouver, Canada. But before we get there we actually started at home and started out in San Francisco and just had to stop at the Golden Gate Bridge.
It was early afternoon and the fog was just coming in but you could still see the bridge.
Monte couldn't wait to get out of the jeep and have his picture taken going into Oregon. From now on we knew that some of the prettiest coastline in the world was ahead of us!
I think we stopped at every beach along the way! This is a picture at Gold Beach Oregon. This is the end of the Rouge River and they were fishing for Salmon. One man on the sand bar was fishing for perch and caught a 45lb Salmon.
If you travel the Oregon coast the only way to really see it, is by getting out and taking a walk and really seeing everything you can. Every little bay and beach are different and very beautiful.
Monte loved getting out and running on the beaches. You can almost see how happy he is.
When Monte got out of the car at any beach he wanted to run and play. I couldn't ask for any better friend to come along on our trip with us. It seems with the great growth that Oregon is having along interstate 5, the coast areas that have good access to those growth cities are doing well. Coming from California into Brookings, Oregon has great beaches and seem to be more quiet in nature. Many of the beaches here you can actually walk for miles by yourself or at least pass by someone only once in a while. Gold Beach, Port Orford, and Bandon are in this area. Bandon is a nice small town you can stop and look at shops, check out the cheese factory, and buy their curds of which I enjoy a lot. If you have more time you can see their lighthouse or fish or crab on the dock in center of town. Actually the crabbing is great here and it is great fun. Port Orford is one of my favorites for the 4th of July. We happened to be there for the 4th when my kids went with us. Everyone in town comes down to the beach at sundown and they blow off the rockets and other fireworks at the edge of the waves! I was really surprised on how much fireworks they blew up being such a small town, but it was absolutely beautiful! I will remember that evening for the rest of my life! There's More!!
