Monte the Great Dane!Monte my Friend!

I have had Monte since he was just 8 weeks old and he has grown into a great friend! I think he has become my best friend. Yes, I know most people think that he is too big but he has become like my second generation of kids.

We go walking, running, camping, and he even takes the time to rest with me even though he would rather be playing. Actually they like to rest a lot and I think that is part of their growing process.

Great Danes think they are lap dogs and like the warmth of the house. They play with kids very well and are very careful with everything around them. They don't bark a lot but when they do, you know that someone or something has entered their area of which they take great care of. They wouldn't attack someone,but, they let you know that they are around.

Great Danes really don't eat as much as you might expect. I buy a 40 lb. bag every 5 weeks and really there are smaller dogs that eat a lot more.

There is one drawback to great danes and that is they don't live as long as other dogs. I expect Monte to live about 9-10 years. Knowing this, I plan on making every day of his life special. I take him everyplace I can and give him a big hug everytime I can. His love back is worth every minute of it!
