Living in California is very special to me because of all the different shades of nature that I can see, from the ocean to the high mountains, and not too far away the deserts. All of these are different to look at and all have such different displays of what nature has to offer. But, it also reminds me that nature is fragile, and we must protect it from the growth of mankind or we may lose its' beauty forever. Not too far away from me grow the mighty redwoods. You can can walk up to these giants and look up as they reach the sky. They are so big they make you feel small. But as you look as the light comes down to the forest floor, a small flower, a fern, or a deer walking by, you realize you are part of nature too.
My father worked very hard for us during his life, but now takes the time to see nature around him and has become a gentle loving man because of it. He goes with my mother and looks at the world around them. He takes pride in his garden around his house and enjoys looking at the flowers and animals around his home. Every time I talk to them they tell me of how pretty something was that they saw on their many little trips around their home. If you take the time to see a flower or small creature that you see during your day, it will make a difference in your life. You will cherish the moment and want to protect it for others to see. Many people are too rushed or can't see what's out there. They will miss the most important part of life and that is their part in nature and just how pretty and fragile it is. Once they open their eyes it will change them forever.
Man has changed the earth and because of the fragile nature of things has helped to change what the earth looks like. Many of the things my grandfather saw in his life is not here for us to see. You and I can not see many of the same plants and animals that he saw in his life. They have been lost forever. It is because of this I think it important to protect nature as much as possible so that your grandkids can see the same plants and animals that you are able to see.
When man was place on this earth it was in a garden of plenty. Plants and animals lived together and all was beautiful. I enjoy looking at my dad's gardens and watching them change over the year. This picture here is one of his September Fall Gardens. A lot of pretty flowers and colors to look at.
