Want to have some real fun? Why not check in with the Food Preservers from Eugene Oregon and can a bazillion cans of Tuna! This is a once a year workshop and I believe my parent's second year.
This is a lot of work and my parents were there for 13 hours working hard at this. But, every time I talk to them they tell me about all the neat things they do and learn. I believe this is part of the extension services in Eugene, Oregon.
That's Seldon Sr. on the left and I can just imagine the fun he had helping to cut up all the tuna to be canned.
The fish didn't have a chance!
It was a long day but it is a good way to learn from the best!
Must of taken a lot of tuna for a bazillion cans of Tuna! A few years ago I would of never dreamed that my dad would do this. Now, he is a member of the Master Food Preservers of Eugene, Master Gardeners of Oregon and probably one of the best bridge players that hit the Eugene area. My mom just emailed me that he bid 7 nt and made it at their bridge club, that a way to go dad!
There was a lot of work but also time for fun!
This is a great place to learn about food preservation and a great way to meet a lot of really nice people. If you are from Eugene you may of saw my dad at your county fair at the food preservers booth or at the Master gardeners display. He also spends a lot of time answering phones every month for people to ask questions about food preservation and for the master gardeners.
My parents share when they were done was 50 jars at this tuna workshop. They told me the first thing they did when they got home was take a shower. I can only imagine what the cats in the neighborhood thought. But if you want the best there is, you have to do it yourself or at least in a workshop like this. The food preservers have all kinds of workshops and information and services so that you can learn how to do it yourself. I have tried the tuna they made last year and it was really great. I thought it better than that you could buy in the store. Until next year....................................
Have a lot of fun and none of us want to see any more of...........
UNTIL NEXT YEAR!
